God+You+Me are Pieces of the Puzzle, working together, to share the Good News with others!

Matt. 28:19&20~"Go, make disciples of ALL the nations ~ teach them to obey all the commands I have given..."

Our response to His command can be only one of 3: to Go, to Send Others, or to Disobey. (John Piper)

In the spring of 2010, I spent 7 weeks in Oaxaca, Mexico, as a volunteer teacher at a school for children of missionaries. God opened the door for me to return for the 2010-2011 school year.

If you click on posts from January - March of 2010, you'll see posts on the lessons I'm learning on patience & vision.

Posts from April 2010 - June of 2011, are about daily life in Oaxaca,
including pictures of the food, the people, & the most memorable moments of my experience.

God's Sense of Humor...

From January 31, 2011
From the minute it became clear that God was opening the door for me to come teach in Oaxaca, Mexico, I just had to giggle at His sense of humor.

You see, although I love spending time in the sun, I do not like sweating. So, I truly appreciate the ability to be comfortable driving in air conditioning & coming home to an air conditioned home.

Well, there is no air conditioning in the homes of Oaxaca. Meanwhile, the year-round daytime temperatures are between the mid-70s to the low 90s! As I ride on public transportation every day, the sweat drips into my eyes & down my back…

One of the alarm clocks I brought with me from the States is an atomic clock, which also has the temperature.  4 hours ago, the temperature inside my apartment was 85 degrees. I opened all the windows & left them open for the entire evening, hoping that it would cool down so I wouldn’t be sweating when trying to fall asleep. But, it has only cooled down 3 degrees. What’s up with that?

How hot is it? It is so hot that even the last bag of chocolate that I brought back with me from Christmas break in the States is now melting!

(By the way ~ for anyone who thinks I'm just complaining ~ I'm not alone...several of my Mexican friends here have clearly expressed, more than once, how much they don't like that there is no way to escape the heat!)

I keep reminding myself to appreciate this time when it’s in the low 80s, because it will only get hotter for the next 5 months I’m here!
