Matt. 28:19&20~"Go, make disciples of ALL the nations ~ teach them to obey all the commands I have given..."

Our response to His command can be only one of 3: to Go, to Send Others, or to Disobey. (John Piper)

In the spring of 2010, I spent 7 weeks in Oaxaca, Mexico, as a volunteer teacher at a school for children of missionaries. God opened the door for me to return for the 2010-2011 school year.

If you click on posts from January - March of 2010, you'll see posts on the lessons I'm learning on patience & vision.

Posts from April 2010 - June of 2011, are about daily life in Oaxaca,
including pictures of the food, the people, & the most memorable moments of my experience.

Didn’t Pay The Bill? WHAT BILL??

From Monday, December 13, 2010
Today, I learned the hard way, that even though you haven’t gotten a bill in the mail, you still have to pay on time!

We don’t have a mailbox at my house. I honestly don’t even know if there is a “mailman” for my neighborhood? I do know I have seen guys on mopeds driving around sliding electric bills under people’s doors. I know that every now & then, there is an envelope sticking through our metal gate. I also know that every now & then, there is an envelope or a pizza advertisement on the grass in between the front gate & the front door.

Well, for the last 3 months here, I have gotten my cable & internet bill this way ~ either I’d just picked it up off of the grass or I’d pull it out from between the metal gate.

I didn’t have any tv channels or internet Saturday or Sunday. So, today, after more than an hour of trying to call the company, I finally got through. They said my service was shut off for not paying! I was shocked! I normally am really good with keeping up with bills! This company allows you to pay online, so that’s what I’d done for the last several months’ bills.

I had not received a bill “in the mail” ~ so, I had no clue I owed any money! When I explained that to the person on the phone, they had no sympathy. They just said, “Well, even if you don’t get a bill, you still have to pay.”

So, I paid the bill with him over the phone.

BUT ~ I also had to pay a reconnection fee!

Oh, what a costly mistake of waiting for a bill to come in the mail before paying it!!!
